The Bible

All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness. (2 Timothy 3:16)

History

TRANS:mission was established in 2011, when a number of local churches in the Pretoria and greater Johannesburg area came together to form a ministry leadership and church planting training network. As such it functions as a trans-denominational, inter-church partnership that aims to recruit, develop and train gospel workers and leaders for church planting.

TRANS:mission was born out of 4 convictions:

  1. More churches should be planted, and existing ones revitalized
  2. There is a great need for men to be raised up and trained to do this work. (Mt 9:38)
  3. It ultimately remains the responsibility of the local church to raise up the future generation of labourers. (2 Tim 2:2)
  4. Collectively churches can do this better than any one church on its own.

Starting out with a two-year Bible school and Ministry Apprenticeship program, TRANS:mission now also assists students to obtain formal theological qualifications through the US based Antioch School of Church Planting and Leadership Development. Church planting training is offered through our annual, week long, Church Planting School, while our two year Church Planting Residency program assists prospective church planters and their supporting congregations to plan and prepare for church planting in a structured and responsible manner.
